The exam can be both a Computer-based format (CBE) or pen and pencil at specified exam sites depending on the school at which you are applying.
Generally you take it in January for the Fall semester and in July for the Spring semester.
The test is multiple choice with 170 questions in the four categories with 55 in English, 45 in Math, 40 in Reading and 30 questions in Science.
Results will determine whether you will be selected to attend the school of your choice.
Costs are minimal usually $25 for taking all categories including the science component.
Practice sessions can be done online and are recommended prior to taking the TEAS.

The exam is divided into four categories: English covering punctuation, grammar, spelling and sentence structure; Math covering percentages, ratios, equations, metric conversion, fractions and decimals; Reading covering comprehension, inferences and conclusions; and Science covering basic physical principles, biology, anatomy, chemistry and physiology.
The test lasts three hours and 29 minutes.
You will be scored for each section and then have an overall score
No calculators are allowed but you can use scratch paper and pencil.
Test results are available immediately with the computer based format and a copy can be sent directly to the school. The pen and pencil test is scored within 24 hours of receipt by the testing center and can be sent to the school to which you are applying.
