Need help Studying for Sexual Assault Nurse Exam (SANE) ?

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examination (SANE) is administered by the Forensic Nursing Certification Board (FNCB). FNCB was founded by the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN). FNCB offers two professional certifications; Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Pediatric (SANE-P) and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A). The exams are conducted by CASTLE Worldwide


Eligibility


   •  Candidates for both the SANE-A and SANE-P certifications must posses a valid US RN license
   •  Or, candidates must posses a first level general nurse license in the jurisdiction/country of practice
   •  Candidates must also have completed a nursing education program on sexual assault with at least 40 hours course work with 40 nursing continuing education contact hours or academic credit from an accredited educational institution
   •  Candidates must also have at least 2 years (3 years for SANE-P) experience as a first level general nurse or an RN
   •  Candidates must have had supervised practice as a sexual assault nurse examiner within the past three (3) years

     Download registration forms and mail completed forms along with necessary documents and payment to:

     Ste. 208, Arnold, MD 21012

   •  Candidates can also register online
   •  Once applications are approved, candidates will have to schedule their exam venue and date with Castle Worldwide

   •  Clinically Manage the Sexual Assault Patient 28-32%

   •  Practice Trends and Issues 8-12%
   •  Content outline for SANE-P exam
   •  Identify Dynamics of Child Sexual Assault (CSA) 18-22%
   •  Evaluate the Sexual Assault Patient 28-32%
   •  Clinically Manage the Sexual Assault Patient 28-32%
   •  Interact Throughout the Judicial Process 13-17%
   •  Trends and Issues 8-12%



Exam Structure


   •  The exam is computer based
   •  The SANE-A exam comprises of 175 multiple choice questions
   •  The SANE-P exam contains 146 multiple choice questions
   •  Both exams are each timed for 4 hours



Other Information


   •  The exam is offered twice a year, throughout May and October
   •  Application fee is $400, application fee for international test sites is $500, but IAFN members have to pay only $275
