Taking the Oncology Nursing Certification exam?
|
The Oncology Nursing Certification exam (ONC) aims to test for knowledge necessary for nurses to practice competently at the basic level, within the specialty of oncology nursing. OCN is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and the American Board of Nursing Specialties.
The certification is a non-transferable, revocable, limited license to use the certification designation “OCN” subject to compliance with ONCC rules, as may revised from time to time.

Exam Requirements
Eligibility Requirements for Initial OCN Certification exam candidates are as follows:
Must be current, active, unrestricted RN license at the time of application and examination
Must have a minimum of one year (12 months) experience as an RN within the three years (36 months) prior to application, and
Must have a minimum of 1,000 hours of oncology nursing practice within the two-and-one half years (30 months) prior to application, and
Must have completed a 10 contact hours of accredited continuing education in oncology nursing or an academic elective in oncology within the past three years

Exam Details
It is a three hour testing session.
It is consist of 165 multiple-choice questions.
The content of the exam is based on the OCN blueprint.
It is composed of eight major subject areas.
The major subject area is represented in every test with the appropriate percentage of questions.
