Taking the Nurse Executive, Advanced Exam?

The Nurse Executive, Advanced certification exam (formerly Nursing Administration, Advanced) is for registered nurses seeking higher certification and recognition. The credentialing program is organized and administered by a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The exams are conducted all year round at various Prometric exam sites.



Eligibility


   •  Candidates must posses a valid registered nurse license from any territory or state in the US
   •  Candidates from other countries must posses a valid professional recognized equivalent
   •  Candidates must hold a higher degree or masters in nursing
   •  Or candidates must hold a nursing bachelor degree and a master from another discipline
   •  Candidates should have served in a nurse executive level position for at least 2 years within the past five years
   •  Or, have been teaching nursing administration executive level to graduate students in a faculty
   •  Candidates must have acquired at least 30 hours of continuing education with thee past 3 years in nursing administration
   •  Candidates with a master's degree in nursing do not need to meet the last eligibility requirement



Registration


   •  The exam is available all year round. To register simply download the registration forms
   •  Completed registration forms should be submitted along with necessary documents and payment to the American Nurses Credentialing Center, P.O. Box 791333, Baltimore, MD 21279-1333
   •  After receiving notification of registration, candidates will have to schedule a test date and Prometric test site of choice.

   •  Quality Management/Care Management 16%
   •  Professional Practice Environment 14.67%
   •  Organizational Leadership 26.67%
   •  Organizational Systems Management 24%
   •  Communication/Collaboration 18.67%



Exam Stucture


   •  The exam is made up of 175 questions out of which only 150 are scored and 25 are used as pre-test questions
   •  The exam is computer based and all questions are in the multiple choice format



Other Information


   •  Registration fee for the Nurse Executive is $250 for initial certification of members of the American Nurses Association and $390 for non-members
