The exam is conducted in both a Computer-based format (CBE) and in a paper and pencil format at specified exam sites.
The online computer based format usually provides you with instant results while paper and pencil versions are provided within 48 hours after receipt of the exam.
The test is designed to determine your overall learning and retention of knowledge throughout your years in school.
The test will highlight any weak areas that need to be addressed and provide the student with questions missed.
Costs are minimal usually $15 to $25 for taking all categories including the science component.
Registration can be done online and the test can be taken several times if the student discovers weak areas that need to be addressed.

The exam is divided into four categories with 40 to 50 multiple choice questions generally in each category: math, reading and comprehension, English and critical thinking. If science is added then there is a fifth category with another 50 questions.
The questions relate to your general knowledge and level of comprehension in each of the categories.
