Taking the Certified Wound Care Associate CWCA?
The Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA) is conducted and organized by the American Academy of Wound Management (AAWM). AAWM operates independently and is the certifying board for professionals seeking to be CWS and CWCA
Registration
To apply for CWCA the exam candidates should download and print application forms from the AAWM website
Complete the forms with pencil and mail completed forms and relevant documents plus payment to the American Academy of Wound Management, Board Certification in Wound Management

Eligibility
Candidates must posses an unrestricted registered nursing license
Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing or another relevant field
Candidates must have acquired at least 3 years of clinical experience in direct patient and wound care
Format
The CWCA is administered as a computer based exam
It is made up of 150 multiple choice questions
The exam is timed for 3 hours
Exams are conducted at PSI/LaserGrade testing centers across the country

Patient/Caregiver Education - 30%
Patient Preparation - 15%
Physical Assessment - 25%
Administration - 10%
Treatment - 20%
Other Information
The CWCA exam is conducted twice a year during February and August
CWCA certification is only valid for 10 years
