Taking the Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) exam ?

Registration

Applicant must hold an active RN license.
Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years experience in nephrology nursing in a clinical staff.
Applicant must hold a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing.
Applicant must have completed 30 hours of continuing education in the 3 years prior to application.
The CNN application can be downloaded from the NNCC website.

Exam Fees

The exam fees are as follows: $250 for NNCC members and $275 for nonmembers, $150 for one retake for members and $175 for nonmembers, late fee of $50, and incomplete application fee of $50. Cancellation requests will be reduced by a $50 application fee. Cancellation requests must be received more than 2 weeks prior to the exam date or no refund will be given.

Exam Contents

The exam consists of 200 questions from the following sections:

Renal failure concepts
Hemodialysis
Peritoneal dialysis
Transplant
Acute Therapies (CRRT, SLEDD, pheresis, acute HD, acute PD)

Other Information

Any continuing education class must be approved by one of the following in order to satisfy the CE requirement: AACN, The Council of Continuing Education, California, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, or Ohio State Boards of Nursing
