For academic nurse educators, it establishes nursing education as a specialty area of practice and creates a means for faculty to demonstrate their expertise in this role.

Registration

Registration Requirements:

1. Licensure: A currently active registered nurse license in the United States or its territories.
2. Education: A master's or doctoral degree in nursing (with a major emphasis in a role other than nursing education).
3. Experience: Four years or more of full-time employment in the academic faculty role within the past five years.
Cancellation must take place 4 business days before schedule exam.



Exam Fees


Initial testing is $375 for a NLN member, $475 for a non-member.



Exam Format


The examination consists of 150 multiple-choice items.

Computer-based testing (CBT) - the CNE examination will be available via computer-based testing, Monday through Friday at AMP Assessment Centers throughout the United States. Specific information about AMP assessment centers can be found at http://www.goamp.com.

Paper/pencil exam - May be administered at one annual testing session based on sufficient candidate interest.
