Studying for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)?

   •  Candidates must have graduated within the past 12 months from an ABHES or CAAHEP medical accredited program.
   •  Or, candidate must be within 30 days of completing such a program

   •  To register, candidates must first download application forms from the AAMA website
   •  Completed forms must be sent along with necessary documents and payments to:

   •  Candidates will be informed within 30 days of their application status
   •  Accepted candidates will need to book an exam date and Prometric computer testing site

   •  The CMA examinations fall under 3 main categories relating to general medical related questions, administrative questions and clinical related questions    •  Visit CMA exam content for a comprehensive list of the content

   •  The exam is a computer based exam made up 200 multiple choice questions
   •  180 questions are used to calculate final scores while 20 are just pre-test questions
   •  Total exam time for the exam is 3 hours
   •  The exam is administered in 4 segments of 40 minutes each, with an optional break period in between each segment
   •  There is an optional 15 minute exam taking tutorial before the actual exam

   •  The exam fee is $125 for members of AAMA, AGHES or CAAHEP
   •  The exam fees for non-members are $250
   •  A pass or fail test result will be provided immediately after the examination while an official result will be mailed to you within 10 weeks
