Need Help Studying for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) Exam?

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) administers the IBCLC certification.  The IBLCE has been accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCAA) since 1988.

Exam Requirements  


Candidates must meet the following requirements:


• A minimum number of clinical practice or breastfeeding counseling hours.
• Minimum of 45 hours of formal education specific to lactation, covering the IBLCE exam blueprint of skills.
• Two professional references.

About the Exam


• The IBLCE certification is valid for 5 years.
• All interested applicants must have experience in providing care to breastfeeding families and must complete education specific to human lactation and breastfeeding.
• The test can be taken in 13 languages.
• All interested examinees will need the 2009 Exam Application Supplement specific to your country of residence.
