The Online Nursing Application
Monday, May 24th, 2010As with almost all other employment areas, applying to become a nurse has now been made easier thanks to the Internet. That’s because there are now now an abundance of places where you can fill out an online application, which will then be considered by those who do the hiring at various hospitals, clinics, etc.
However, just because it’s easier to fill out an online application doesn’t necessarily make it a better job-search approach. Especially for a field such a medicine, it’s always better to create a resume and cover letter and send those to the facilities with job openings. Here are some suggestions to keep in mind as you complete the online application.

With a huge rise in medical malpractice suits today, there is a growing need for experienced nurses who can work with attorneys, insurance companies and other organizations. Legal nurse consultants combine their nurse’s knowledge and skills with legal knowledge to offer advice in a myriad of areas.
Legal nurse consultants often work directly for law firms, insurance companies and government agencies because of the high volume of these types of cases that are often in progress at any one time. Many others work independently as contractors on individual cases and can demand fees of $100 to $100 per hour for testifying as an expert witness or for consulting fees. (more…)

Friday, May 15th, 2009A lot of people are turning to careers in medicine today because they know that they are paying well and that the weakened economy hasn’t stopped them from growing in popularity. There is still a shortage of nurses and doctors in many areas, and the same is true for lab technicians, nursing assistants, and others who do similar jobs. People who work in the front office also have some problems with staff retention because the medical field is growing but people still seem reluctant to train for it. There are just more people needed than there are people available, and that’s very worrisome for those who work in the medical field and for those who need the care of these trained professionals.
